Dear Friends,
Whoever came up with the phrase:” Ignorance is bliss”, must have dealt with someone that is very ignorant and bigoted. I have someone that is like that phrase. You might be asking why I am close to this person. I’m not. This is a friend of a friend. Since I have been down here a lot of my friends had ignorant friends that are so closed mined to people in general. One of my pet peeves is someone that is very ignorant. I’m African American, so I am use to seeing someone’s true nature to being around someone that is not their own race. Someone once said, “The only race on this earth is this human race.” There might be other ethnicities but there is only one race.
This person I mention is basically a woman that does not know what’s outside their shitty little world. It started with ignorant comments about the N word and also race jokes. Then it became whispers and more ignorant comments. Now, I want to hurt them because of their fucked up comments. I don’t like this person but have to be around them because of someone I know. As I try to deal with this person, I try to remember this person is very ignorant and backwards.
I have advice for people that deal with ignorant people: If you know someone like that, let them go and move on. If you have someone in your family, don’t be around them. If you work with someone like that, ask to be re-assigned. Avoidance is better than falling to their level. Ignorance is bliss but the less you know, the more you might end up getting the shit beat out of you. There are not stupid questions but there are dumb and ignorant people.
